Where I think I've wandered

I'm fascinated by the maps people create to show where they've been in a whole year, such as the ones on UrbanTick.

So, for the past week, I've been trying to track where I walk with a GPS logger. Sometimes I forget to turn it on, and sometimes it gets confused about where I've been. I haven't made it work in Linux yet, annoyingly.

I've tried drawing on a map of where I think I've walked as well, as it is neater. I haven't been very far in the past week.

What sort of device and software are you using? Maybe you try GPSvisualiser or GPSBabel.

I'm using a Qstarz BT-Q1000 GPS travel recorder. I used software I downloaded from the Qstarz website (on Windows) to get the logs off of it, and then GPSvisualiser to generate maps (and to draw my own).

Thanks for the suggestion of GPSBabel! Looks like it will definitely be useful.

I tried GPSBabel with this command and it works fine:
gpsbabel -t -w -i mtk,erase -f /dev/ttyUSB0 -o gpx -F out.gpx
